May the 4th Be With You & Happy Mother’s Day
What happened this week?
We’ve continued experimenting with homemade bread, butter, custard, pasta, pizza dough, and more. You really can’t compare the flavours to store-bought versions.
I also sat in front of a sewing machine for the first time in over 30 years and started refreshing my sewing skills. I even made a bookmark, which you can read more about here.
I finally finished setting up the fish tank too. I bought a few more cleaning fish, and my brother gave me an angelfish that hatched in his tank. The little angelfish is named Nalish because its colouring is similar to Nala, our dog. So now we have Nala the dog and Nala Fish. You can probably guess how “Nalish” became the chosen name.
My tank is set up to simulate a natural ecosystem, so I don’t use chemicals. I found the chemicals were actually turning my water green. Someone suggested the YouTuber Father Fish to me, who builds natural tanks without chemicals, so I converted mine and haven’t had an issue since. Now the only thing I battle is algae, just like real waterways.
It was also Mother’s Day this week, and I got thoroughly spoilt with flowers, some books I’d been wanting, and a woodfire pizza oven that needs a little TLC.
I also completed the game Librarian: Tidy Up The Arcane Library. It’s only a small game, but I really enjoyed the zen of putting books away.
And because I apparently enjoy challenging, or possibly punishing, myself, I started looking into reading challenges to encourage myself to read more. Because I clearly have all this spare time on my hands… not!
The only issue with reading challenges is that they lead to more challenges. They’re basically like Pokémon. You suddenly feel the need to collect and complete them all.
